Ceri Hurford-Jones
It was Ceri, together with The FSB regional secretary Richard Mistlin, who actually instigated the South Wilts Business Awards back in 2000, when they recognised a need to celebrate business excellence in the area. He is the Station Director of Spire FM where he has been based for over eleven years. He is currently Vice Chair of Salisbury City Centre Partnership, director of The Salisbury Chamber Of Commerce and a trustee of the Salisbury Hospice. Ceri lists as his main hobbies walking and sailing (though not at the same time!) and has recently completed his Yacht master certificate of competence.
The Moore Stephens (over 500k turnover) Business Award
Robert Newman
Robert was born and educated in Salisbury and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with a local firm before joining one of the "Top 4” firms in Southampton. He joined Moore Stephens as a partner in 1985. He has specific experience of dealing with family owner managed businesses, in particular strategic planning, for both the business and the owners which can include tax planning and exit route strategies. Robert’s current links with the local community are as Trustee of Salisbury Hospice and Treasurer of the Salisbury & District Chamber of Commerce.
The Wessex Drainage New Business Award
Ian Porter
Ian refutes the rumour that he was involved with the building of Hadrians wall, however it is true that he has worked in the construction industry since prior to 1960. He followed the usual route of tradesman, foreman, site agent and contracts manager with a short spell as college lecturer. He formed Wessex Drainage Solutions with Zabrina just over eighteen months ago and has since achieved five awards including 2010 New Business of the year.

George Trytsman
George is an experienced Business Adviser having worked as an independent adviser from 1992 until 1998, when he joined Business Link where he worked as an adviser and senior manager until 2007. He has advised and supported over 300 clients in the South Wiltshire area. George is a Director of the South Wiltshire Economic Partnership and Chairman of Salisbury FSB.
The TABS Excellence in Training Award
Amanda Foster
Amanda’s role within TABS is to offer Training advice to a wide range of customers, whether you are in work or returning to work. TABS have also been appointed Next Step advisors can offer help and support for any one who is unsure what is available to them. Amanda is very passionate about training and how it can help individuals or a whole business. Her training experience is varied from the T.A, Army Cadet Force and Scouts and being a Training Manager for an AppleCentre.
The Emery Little Environmental Award
Nik Little
Nik Little joined Emery Little in 1983 and has worked his way through the ranks from trainee claims clerk to his current position as Managing Director. The Insurance Industry is notoriously bad in terms of its paper consumption and Nik believes this gives the company an even greater responsibility with regards to mitigating its environmental impact. Emery Little was founded by Bryan Little in 1971 giving us the proud distinction of being the longest established insurance broker in the Salisbury area. Since its humble beginnings the company has grown into a multi-million pound business with an international reach and yet retains its roots firmly in the district.
The Design Types E-Commerce Award
Nicolette Rugg
Nicolette went self employed in 1994 with a belief that good innovative design and a personal service in the design and print industry could still be achieved. After 7 years she began Design Types with a friend and the dream for building a successful, friendly and cost effective design service truly took off. Another 10 years on and she has developed the concept even further by taking the company 24 hours by having a New Zealand branch, whilst still offering that personal touch.

Simon Rhodes
Simon is Managing Partner of Trethowans and is responsible for the day to day management and strategic development of the firm. Alongside his Managing Partner duties, Simon is a highly experienced employment lawyer. Simon acts for national, major regional and local employers.
The Salisbury Journal Marketing Excellence Award
Bill Browne
Bill Browne has been editor and publisher of Salisbury Newspapers since 2002. As well as heading up the management team, his job includes editing the Journal and its website, plus the Avon Advertiser and Wiltshire Society magazine. Bill is an active member of the Salisbury community being a director with City Centre Management and the Salisbury and District Chamber of Commerce. Through the Journal he is an enthusiastic supporter of major charities in the city including the Stars Appeal, Salisbury Hospice and the Trussell Trust.

Peartree Serviced Apartments opened in 2010, a new business venture and partnership between Hadyn and Rowena Ingram and Mary Webb. Hadyn was a senior lecturer in tourism and hospitality at Bournemouth and Surrey universities and is currently teaching at the London School of Commerce. Rowena has been at the sharp end of hospitality for more than 30 years, and is also a Blue Badge Tourist Guide. Mary has also worked in tourism and hospitality for more than 20 years, she was Chair of the Salisbury Tourism Partnership and is Vice Chair of Somerset and Wiltshire Region for the FSB.

Kirstie Mathieson
Kirstie is Developer Director at Salisbury Playhouse, one of the South’s leading producing theatres. Kirstie’s role is look after the non ticket income side of the charity – looking after its sponsors, corporate members as well as the Friends of Salisbury Playhouse and other fundraising activities.
